ABOUT US
Bob & Cheri Rogers
In July 2010 we were in Ethiopia to bring our daughter home. Our eyes were opened to the vast needs, and we realized that we needed to do more.
We were changed by what we’d seen and experienced, and shortly after arriving home, were introduced to the Children’s Hope Chest relational model of coming along side of a community to empower children to survive, thrive and succeed in their home country.
It is our firm belief that God does not call the equipped, He equips the called. Developing relationships within the community is essential for holistic and sustainable transformation. Relationships with depth are only possible over time, as we continues to return to these communities to serve.

“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”

OUR HISTORY
OUR STORY
WE BELIEVE: Girls have value. Faith matters. Relationships transform. Empowerment is vital.
Desta Girl began in 2013 as a grassroots effort to bring washable, reusable feminine hygiene products to teen students at the Children’s Hope Chest Chapa Carepoint in southern Ethiopia.
With the sewing skills of over 40 volunteers across the U.S., who dedicated their time and resources to Desta Girl, and the unwavering support of our local church community, we have delivered more than 1500 kits to remarkably impoverished and vulnerable girls and women.
OUR DREAM
OUR VISION
Vision is vital, without it we can't see a future.
We will continue to expand the Desta Girl program in order to educate more girls and keep them in school. With your help we can have kits in the hands of every teen girl and women in our sphere of influence in Ethiopia.

A Letter of GRATITUDE
FULFILLING NEEDS
Letter Translation: “Cheri, I would like to say thank you for your lesson. I am so happy you are caring for us. You teach us as a friend more closely than other people. You ask what we need and you fill that. God bless you more and more. I wish God share your need as you share our needs. Is it possible to have more than two panties? All is good. Keep it. God bless you.”
